Criminal
Identity Theft is a Personal Crime
People steal items of
different types from others each and every day. They may hold a
person up and take their cash from their wallet or purse, steal
their car, or burglarize a home where they may take small or
big items.
Stealing another person's identity is the most modern way
to steal from another person.
Criminal identity theft occurs
when a person takes everything from another person that makes
them who they are. They will take their money and credit card
accounts and by using their personal information to open other
accounts and make fraudulent charges to them, they also steal
their reputation. Criminal identity theft is one of the most
personal crimes you can commit against another person and it is
one of the cruelest ways to rob a person. Your only protection
against those who commit criminal identity theft is to know
what it is and how it works.
What Is
Criminal Identity Theft?
When a person takes on the
identity of another by accessing their personal information in
order to commit fraudulent acts, this is criminal identity theft.
Unfortunately, the victim of identity theft is often the one
that has to pay the price in more ways than one. Not only can
the person use you bank account numbers to take money from your
accounts, but they can use you credit card numbers to make
charges and use your social security number to open even more
credit accounts. Once a person has committed criminal identity
theft, it is difficult and time consuming for the victim to get
their identity and reputation back.
If you don't protect your
personal information, another individual may commit criminal
identity theft with your belongings. During the time that
another has your identity, your reputation and credit rating
are reflected in their actions. That is why it is important to
stop thieves from getting your information and committing
criminal identity theft in the first place.
